Marking and tagging for extinguishers that are before 6-year.

For extinguishers that need to be refilled/recharged: Clean out all moving parts of fire extinguishers, replace any parts as needed, refill powder back into the cylinder. Recharge with nitrogen. Place tag.

Fire Extinguisher cabinets are installed in places where an extinguisher can be weather, or subject to damage, or if it is in a public place so it is enclosed in a safe place and cannot be taken, yet is also easily accessible.

There are different types of cabinets based on fire extinguisher weight – 5-pound fire extinguishers, 10-pound fire extinguishers, 20-pound fire extinguishers.

Fire extinguisher cases are either plastic or metal. Plastic fire extinguisher cases are usually less expensive and avoid rust, but they break easier. Fire extinguisher case type depends on what your situation is (e.g. commercial, high traffic).

Another option to keep fire extinguishers in place are called “vehicle brackets.” Vehicle fire extinguisher brackets allow for placing a fire extinguisher on a wall without installing a cabinet.

Fire hose cabinets are large (3’ x 3’ x 1’), squared housings for fire hoses and fire extinguishers.

Many times, cabinets need to be replaced, because they are prone to being broken into and located in a place where there is high traffic and could be damaged by a car, furniture being moved, etc. When replacing broken cabinets, we try to use the same size cabinet so you don’t have to repair or repaint the walls. Since it’s less expensive to replace a cabinet than a fire extinguisher, we recommend replacing broken cabinets to protect fire extinguishers from getting damaged and needing replacement.
